Professional-Grade Preservation That Extends Cedar Roof Life

Professional-Grade Preservation That Extends Cedar Roof Life

Why We Use TWP®-200

At Cedar Roof Cleaning & Preservation Co., we rely on products with real-world results — not trends.

TWP®-200 is a professional-grade wood preservative specifically suited for exposed exterior cedar, including shake and shingle roofs that face constant sun, moisture, and temperature cycling.

When applied correctly, its oil base penetrates deeply into the cedar, helping stabilize the wood, slow UV-driven fiber breakdown, and manage moisture in a way that aligns with how cedar naturally performs.

How TWP®-200 Works Within the Wood

The penetrating oils stabilize the wood from within, while the finely dispersed pigments remain closer to the surface, where they absorb UV exposure and help slow sun-driven wear.

TWP®-200 is not a surface coating and does not form a rigid film. It works within the cedar — which is exactly where long-term protection needs to live.

Designed for How Cedar Roofs Actually Age

Cedar roofs don’t fail all at once — they change gradually.

As natural oils are lost, fibers dry, and exposure becomes more aggressive, the wood becomes more reactive to sun and moisture

TWP®-200 is engineered to support cedar through this process by:

  • Replacing lost oils that help slow UV-related fiber breakdown

  • Improving moisture shedding without sealing the wood

  • Reducing sharp wet-dry cycles that accelerate checking and movement

The goal isn’t to stop aging.

It’s to slow it, even it out, and keep it predictable — which is how cedar roofs last longer and remain repair-friendly.

Breathable, Water-Repellent Protection

One of the most important characteristics of TWP®-200 is how it handles moisture.

TWP®-200 is a water repellent, not a moisture trap.

It limits water absorption while still allowing cedar to breathe and release moisture naturally — a balance that’s critical for roof longevity.

Products that seal the surface or form rigid films can trap moisture inside the wood, leading to accelerated deterioration rather than protection.

TWP®-200 avoids this by entering the wood fibers instead of sealing them shut.

Penetration Over Film

Unlike paint, coatings, or film-forming stains, TWP®-200 does not create a surface layer that can crack, peel, or separate from the wood.

Instead, it absorbs into the cedar fibers, reinforcing the wood internally and weathering gradually rather than failing suddenly.

As the treatment ages, it thins slowly — which is what allows future Re-Coats to build on what’s already there instead of starting over.

This is the foundation of staying “In-Cycle.”

Why Application Matters

  • TWP®-200 performs best when applied to properly prepared cedar.

That’s why preservation is never treated as a one-step process.

  • Cleaning opens the grain and removes the surface buildup that blocks absorption, allowing the preservative to penetrate and protect the wood itself.

  • Applied with tuned, high-volume, low-pressure equipment, TWP®-200 is delivered evenly — allowing the cedar to absorb what it needs without surface pooling or oversaturation.

  • Product quality matters.

Application quality matters just as much.

Color Options With Purpose

All three CRC&P color tones use the same TWP®-200 protective base. The difference is aesthetic — not performance.

Protection That Fits the Preservation Cycle

When used within our preservation system, TWP®-200 aligns perfectly with long-term cedar roof care.

It’s designed to be maintained, not replaced — renewed before protection fully wears away.

That’s how roofs remain stable, predictable, and repair-friendly as they age — and why TWP®-200 works with cedar’s natural behavior instead of fighting it.

TWP®-200 isn’t about shortcuts, coatings, or surface films.

It’s about slowing deterioration, managing exposure, supporting natural wood movement, and keeping a cedar roof performing the way it was designed to.

When paired with proper preparation and applied on schedule, it becomes one of the most effective tools available for extending the service life of a cedar roof — without compromise.
